How will coronavirus affect my stay at Hotel Samos?

By | 13 March, 2020 | 10 comments

Find out if the hotel is closed and why, when it will reopen and how your booking is affected. We will update this post with the latest information. (Latest update: 12/05/20)

Is Hotel Samos closed and why?

Yes, Hotel Samos closed on 15 March 2020.

This was initially due to the cancellation of the IMSERSO programme (subsidised holidays scheme for Spanish pensioners) and not lockdown restrictions.

However, the Spanish government then declared a state of emergency on 15 March 2020 and placed the country in lockdown with immediate effect.

When will Hotel Samos open again?

The Spanish lockdown will be gradually lifted from 24 May 2020 onwards. Hotel Samos plans to open when permitted or as soon as flights resume.

This date may change depending on any future travel restrictions and we will keep you informed here on this blog post.

We also recommend you keep up to date with your travel provider and country-specific travel guidance from your government.

Has there been coronavirus at Hotel Samos?

No, there have been no cases of coronavirus at Hotel Samos.

How will my direct booking be affected?

Bookings with free cancellation

If you would like to cancel now, you can easily do this via the ‘Manage booking’ link in your confirmation email.

However, remember that you can cancel your current booking for free up until the time limit stated on your email confirmation.

If you cancel after this time limit, there is a late cancellation (or no-show) charge equal to the first night of your stay.

Non-refundable bookings

If you are unable to attend due to travel or flight restrictions, or you have decided you would prefer not to travel this year, we completely understand.

In light of this difficult and unprecedented situation, we can offer you a credit note to the total value of your booking to use against any stay in 2020 or 2021.

This means that your non-refundable payment is completely safe and you will retain the full amount to use against a future visit. There will also be no admin charges.

You don’t need to choose dates now; a new tool (developed in response to this situation) will soon be available on our website.

Guests with non-refundable direct bookings will be able to mark their reservations as postponed without selecting new dates at this time.

Just make sure you keep your original booking confirmation email in a safe place, as it contains a ‘Manage booking’ link and your unique key code.

Alternatively, you can let us know you’d like to use this option (write to info@hotelsamos.com) and we will record your booking as postponed.

I didn’t book on the Hotel Samos website; how will my booking be affected?

If you have a booking via a third party, please contact your travel provider.
