How will coronavirus affect my stay at Hotel Samos?

By | 13 March, 2020 | 6 comments

Find out if the hotel is closed and why, when it will reopen, how your booking is affected and if you will receive a refund. We will update this post with the latest information. (Latest update: 15/03/20)

Is Hotel Samos closed?

Hotel Samos closes on 15 March 2020 and is planned to open again on 14 April.

This date may change depending on any future travel restrictions and we will keep you informed here on this blog post.

We also recommend you keep up to date with your travel provider and country-specific travel guidance from your government.

Why did Hotel Samos close?

The hotel closed due to the cancellation of the IMSERSO programme (subsidised holidays scheme for Spanish pensioners), upon which we rely during these winter months.

The Spanish government cancelled the IMSERSO trips as a preventative measure because of the risk posed by COVID-19 (coronavirus) to the most vulnerable groups such as the elderly.

On 15 March, the Spanish government declared a state of emergency and placed the country in lockdown with immediate effect, with flights reduced by 50%.

Has there been coronavirus at Hotel Samos?

NO, there have been no cases of coronavirus at Hotel Samos.

How will my direct booking be affected? Can I get a refund?

If you booked on the Hotel Samos website and your arrival date is before 14 April, we will cancel your direct booking for you. This includes non-refundable bookings, which we will refund in full.

If your arrival date is 14 April or later, your direct booking is currently unaffected.

If you decide you would like to cancel in any case and you have a non-refundable booking, we can offer you a credit note for the total paid and which you can use against any future stay in 2020 or 2021.

If you have a direct booking with free cancellation, you can simply cancel your reservation via the ‘Manage booking’ link in your confirmation email.

I didn’t book on the Hotel Samos website; how will my booking be affected?

If you have a booking via a third party, please contact your travel provider.
