Updated direct booking policy for non-refundable stays in 2020

Do you have a non-refundable direct booking for a stay in 2020 and which you wish to cancel? We would like to help you; find out more about the options available to you.

This article is for guests who would like to cancel a non-refundable direct booking with dates in 2020 and outside the lockdown and/or travel restrictions (force majeure) period. If your visit falls within that time, please read our post on how your stay may be affected.

Flexibility at a difficult time

We completely understand that the coronavirus outbreak continues to cause problems and create uncertainty for many people. For various personal reasons, you may prefer not to travel once restrictions are lifted and force majeure no longer applies.

Therefore, we want to help you by being as flexible as possible, keeping in mind that our independent hotel and our staff are also facing extraordinary and difficult circumstances, and we are not obliged to change original booking conditions.

Conditions and travel insurance

When choosing between a non-refundable stay or one with free cancellation, guests assess which is the best option for them (assuming any relevant risks such as a change in personal circumstances) and accept the conditions when they book.

We always strongly recommend that guests take out a suitable travel insurance policy to protect against situations such as flight cancellations due to individual airline policy. Some credit card purchases may include this protection – please contact your bank.

Services will be available

Hotel Samos will reopen (15 July 2020) to coincide with the lifting of travel restrictions and airlines’ decision to reactivate flights.

This means that the services will be in place and accessible for guests to attend their holiday. Whether they wish to cancel (or not) is their individual decision based on their personal situation.

Options for cancelling bookings

If you wish to cancel your non-refundable booking for personal reasons (as opposed to force majeure events), we realise that you may prefer a full refund. We are very sorry that this is not possible.

However, we have done our best to compromise between your own wish to cancel (even though the original non-refundable booking conditions should apply) and the need to keep our employees’ jobs safe.

We can exceptionally offer two options:

1) Convert the full value of your non-refundable booking to a credit note to use against any future booking in 2020 or 2021 (choose dates later, original non-refundable conditions will apply to the postponed booking).

2) Change the booking name to that of a friend or relative who may wish to attend in your place, whether for the original dates or new ones.
